Wellness Coaching

What is wellness coaching?

In essence, a wellness coach is a certified expert in facilitating lifestyle change. They are interested in an individual’s goals for their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being; and offer techniques, advice and support to encourage positive lifestyle changes. They provide personalised support and motivational programmes to encourage positive behaviour plans to aid individuals in embracing their wellness.

Wellness coaches help individuals to identify their wellness goals and the barriers an individual may be struggling to overcome on their path to wellness. They device a plan, to break the often daunting journey to wellness and wholeness, into manageable chunks. Essentially, they help to bridge the gap between thinking about change and actually taking action to change the situation.

‘If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it’- Mary Engelbreit

Coaching takes place in a safe, non-judgemental, supportive environment.

Initial Consultations ascertain what an individual’s wellness goals and struggles are. It also serves to gauge an individual’s motivation and readiness level for change. There are often feelings of ambivalence towards change, even if the end goal is positive. Long-term and short-term goals, and what defines success for the client will be discussed, defined and action plan will be decided upon. Obstacles, that may currently hinder an individual’s ability to change, are identified; and strategies to overcome these are put in place.

Follow-up consultations are individually tailored to provide support, guidance and motivation to keep an individual on track, moving towards change, and the healthiest version of themselves.

Coaching for Adrenal Burn-Out

When stress becomes a habit, it can push the adrenal system into overdrive, leaving one energy deficient. The stress hormones will effect our blood pressure, heart rate, metabolism, liver function, immunity and our ability to stabilise our blood sugar.

Life coaching will help develop a more balanced lifestyle and help manage stress triggers and responses.

Team Coaching:

Team coaching allows spiritually minded individuals, teams and organisations realise their full potential and capacity for success. Coaching can help align a business and team in terms of strengths, core values and vision. It will help break down old negative patterns and help identify obstacles to success. Team coaching aims to develop solid leadership and a strong united team through effective communication and common visions for success in the work environment.

Executive Coaching

Executive coaching is aimed at executives, managers and supervisors who want to improve their leadership skills in an organisation. Strategies are provided to help align individual and corporate vision while working to achieve specific goals. Coaching can help change one’s mind set from that of employee to that of leader or from mentee to mentor. Sessions focus on assessing an individual’s personality traits, strengths, weaknesses, their ability to motivate others, their work ethic and their working environment. Coaches then provide support and strategies to overcome weaknesses and other obstacles to success and re-enforce strengths; on the path to success.

Executive coaching is a good strategic move for talented management who my lack skills in either leadership, communication or politics. Coaching is also a helpful tool for those in leadership roles who are fast approaching ‘burn-out’ and can help achieve a more balanced and successful approach to work and life.

Ontological Coaching

Ontology is by definition the metaphysical study that deals with the nature of being or existing.

Ontological coaching is well defined by Alan Sieler in the below quote:

“An Ontological Coach helps clients understand what it is about the Way of Being they present to the world that is generating an unhelpful or unhealthy reality. They then provide support for their client to create a more productive reality by working to develop more positive language, moods, emotions and body postures.”

Our Counsellors

Our coaches are trained in the following areas:

General counseling:

Counselling can help one find resolution and relief in times of overwhelming circumstances or with a problem that interferes in one’s daily life. Services offered include individual, couple and family therapy. Whether seeking help for a particular problem that may just need a few sessions, or for longer term counselling, we can be of assistance.

Trauma debriefing:

Counselling following a traumatic event, such as a serious accident, tragic loss or a threat to one’s or to one’s loved one’s safety; can aid in coping with shock and in keeping one’s emotional recovery on track. Counselling in the early stages, following trauma, will prevent the development of unhealthy coping strategies and replace them with healthy ones. Counselling will be effective in dealing with the 5 stages of grief.

Imago therapy:

Imago is the Latin word for image. It was developed by Harville Hendrix (PhD) in 1980. Imago counselling for couples is rooted in the idea that humans sub-consciously look for a love with a partner, which is familiar and comfortable to them, whether that familiarity be positive or negative, from relationships they knew in their formative years. Humans also tend to look for partners that have traits that they themselves have not yet developed (opposites attract). Imago looks at these differences being helpful to mutual development, rather than having to be an issue of contention.

Therapy focuses on bringing unconscious aspects of the relationship to the conscious, through intentional dialogue. It will address conflicts and help healing and growth. It enables partners to better understand each other’s needs and to enhance intimacy and connection.

Theophostic prayer ministry:

Theophostic Prayer Ministry is a biblical based, Christ-centered ministry.

“Simply stated, it is encouraging a person to discover and expose what he believes that is a falsehood; and then encouraging him to have an encounter with Jesus Christ through prayer, thus allowing the Lord to reveal His truth to the wounded person’s heart and mind. It is not about advice giving, diagnosing problems, or sharing opinions or insight. It is about allowing a person to have a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus in the midst of the person’s emotional pain.” http://www.theophostic.com

Sozo counselling:

Sozo is a Greek work translated as ‘saved, healed, and delivered’. Sozo isn’t a counselling session, but rather a ministry aimed at inner healing, and connection to the path of your calling or destiny, through connecting to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Sozo seeks wholeness through spiritual connection.
