STOP YOUR SNAPPING HIP WITH PROLO!

Snapping Hip Syndrome also known as Coxa Saltans  is a condition that is characterized by a snapping, popping or clicking sensation in or around the hip when it is in motion. It is an overuse injury with a higher rate of occurrence in activities such as dancing, running, soccer and gymnastics that involve repetitive hip flexion and extension. This condition occurs most commonly in patients between 15-40 years of age, affecting females more than males. This condition can often also predispose the patient to hip bursitis.
CAUSES

The most common cause of Snapping hip syndrome  is the Iliotibial band (or “IT band”) snapping over the greater trochanter of the femur. The Iliopsoas tendon snapping over a bony prominence of the pelvis is the second cause. The least common cause is a tear of the cartilage and/or loose body within the hip joint that may also cause the hip to “lock up”.

HOW PROLO CAN HELP YOUR SNAPPING HIP!

Although cortisone injections and anti-inflammatory medication do provide short term pain relief, both options result in long-term loss of function and increased chronic pain. These treatment options actually inhibit the healing process of soft tissues and accelerate cartilage degeneration. PROLOTHERAPY is a regenerative injection therapy that stimulates healing and repair within damaged soft tissue structures. Prolo is a better treatment alternative because it strengthens the hip ligaments, creating stability within the joint.

Prolotherapy to the posterior hip capsule and ischiofemoral ligaments generally resolves the problem of Snapping ITB or gluteal muscles because posterior hip laxity is involved in these conditions .Prolotherapy to the anterior iliofemoral hip ligaments tighten the joint and stop anterior hip protrusion.
