RESOLVE YOUR ROTATOR CUFF RUT!
Tendinosis, sometimes called chronic tendinitis or chronic tendon injury, is damage to a tendon at a cellular level implying a pathology of chronic degeneration that results from chronic overuse. When overuse injuries are repeated without giving the tendon time to heal and rest-TENDINOSIS results. It is thought to be caused by microtears in the connective tissue in and around the tendon. This may lead to reduced tensile strength, thus increasing the chance of tendon rupture.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
* Pain with reaching or lifting, especially at or above shoulder height.
*Pain lying on the affected side or may be awoken at night when rolling over onto affected side.
*Most patients are relatively comfortable at rest with the arm at the side.
* Strength is generally unaffected but limited by pain.
* Pain that radiates into the neck, back or upper arm due to shoulder fatigue.
*Common causes for rotator cuff tendinosis include occupational overuse(prolonged overhead activity with arm),Impingement syndrome, rotator cuff weakness, shoulder instability, poor posture, incorrect sporting technique and insufficient healing time post tendon injury.
PROLOTHERAPY FOR TENDINOSIS
Prolotherapy for rotator cuff tendinosis involves multiple injections of dextrose-based solution into ligaments and tendon attatchments around the shoulder,as well as into the joint to stimulate healing in the rotator cuff tissues..
Prolotherapy to all the adjacent structures stimulates a natural inflammatory response in the weakened rotator cuff tissues .This mild localised inflammatory reaction draws immune cells to the area to regenerate the injured tissues. The increase in blood flow and regenerative cells is the body’s natural healing response. The body also responds by depositing collagen at the site of injury, strengthening the once weakened rotator cuff tendons.
